The Janor Foundation is currently being established as a format to support children in need through art. The idea is to use Janik Bürgin’s artistic eye and way of seeing to create something with a direct social purpose.

At the heart of the foundation is the photographic series Why You Not a Doctor?. The series consciously distinguishes itself from Janik Bürgin’s artistic practice, both visually and in its underlying vision. While the works are rooted in his artistic eye, they deliberately take a different visual and conceptual direction. This distance is essential to the project. The series is not an extension of his existing artistic practice, but a conscious shift towards a different purpose — using photography as a direct means of supporting children in need.

Each photograph is a unique, one-of-a-kind piece, personally signed by Janik Bürgin, and is available for CHF 1,000. The foundation holds the photographic works in its collection, and when a photograph is acquired, the full amount goes directly to the Janor Foundation. The foundation can then use these funds to support children in need directly.

The Janor Foundation is being developed with a board made up of people from different professional and social backgrounds, bringing together different perspectives and areas of expertise.

The photographs therefore exist between two worlds: they emerge from Janik Bürgin’s artistic perspective, while consciously stepping outside his artistic practice to serve a different purpose. In this space between art and social engagement, the Janor Foundation aims to create a direct connection between collecting a photograph and helping a child in need.
